Trnylor, with tho avowed rmrposo of running him out of town, thoy overpowered him and threw him down on tho floor of tho office, but he, helng a wiry and quick man, broko loose and scctirod his pistol, with Which ho at onco opened (Ire, with the result that thrco men wero killed and Ihrco wounded. Tho greatest excitement prevails, and tho manager's coolness Ib tho talk of tho neighborhood. I)y some, those who sympathize with tho miners, the killing Is deplored, but tbo othor sldo uphold tho manager and commend his courjio, which they say was that of telf-defense. A strike has beon on for some weeks following tho reduction In pay from $3.50 to 3 per day, announced by Manager Man-ager Traylor. Tho miners havo been wrought up over tho matter, and have seemingly blamed the manager for the reduction. This dovelopcd Into open threats, and eventually Into the attompt at-tompt this morning to drlvo him from tho placo, which met with such fatal results to tho minors.
