Show UTAH CENSUS ' FIGURES GIVEN; The United States Census bulletin on agriculture in Utah, recently issued, is-sued, shows that there has been substantial sub-stantial development in the last decade. de-cade. Land in farms has increased nearly near-ly 50 per cent; improved land in the farms 25 per cent; farm property has more than doubled in value, the greatest increase being in implements and machinery, and the least in build ings. j The actual number of farms increased in-creased nearly 20 per cent and the size of farms, which decreased in 1910, now shows an increase, altho it is a little below 1900 figures. In most cases livestock increased in number, although not always very greatly. Sheep show a slight decrease; de-crease; horses a very slight increase, and cattle a substantial increase. Receipts from the sail of dairy pro I ducts are more than double what they i were ten years ago. This, however, :was due largely to price, j Wool production is slightly less than was shown by the 1910 census. : Cereal production was less than a decade ago. chiefly on account, of reduced re-duced yield in oats and winter wheat. These census figures are based on 19-19 19-19 crops, and 1919 was a bad crop yerfr in Utah. . As a matter of fact, acreage devoted to cereals in 1919 was greater than in 1909, by nearly 2 5 per cent. The same may be said i of hay. Potatoe acrage was less in jl919 than in 1 909, o,s was also production. pro-duction. Fruit production increased; values were very much higher. . ' Sugar beets show an enormous increase in-crease over 100 per cent in acreage weH as in production. Increase in -nine was 45 per cent, j Value of all crops in 1919 was $58 ! "17.067; of livestock $54,008,1 83. The most important agricultural conn ties from crop value standpoint are Utah, Box Elder and Cache. These 3, together with Weber, are the most important producers of sugar beets. Utah county is the largest fruit hiroducer, with Salt Lake. Box Elder, Doris and Weber also important, j 8 8 per cent of the farms are op-I op-I orated by owners, but this per cent is less than the 1910 figure which was 91.2.
