Show USE SHOW PLAIED FOR TIE STATE FAIR Intention of the Secretary Is to Make Innovation a Society Event. The latest feature, which has been planned by Secretary Horace JE. Ensign En-sign of tho State Fair association for tho 1913 fair, is a horse show, which will take place each night of the fair. This innovation is Mr. Etisign'3 own idea and it is ono that will not only meet with the approval of fair patrons and those who wish to exhibit horses of all classes, but it will undoubtedly prove to bo a big thing in a financial way for the fair. The horse show will probably be conducted con-ducted as a society event and elaborate ribbon prizes will bo given to the wiu-ners. wiu-ners. Although money prizes may be also given, it is thought that tho owner of a blooded horse appreciates far more a blue ribbon than any amount of monoy. The ribbons will bo tho most expensive made and will be arranged in large rosettes. Mr. Ensign has communicated com-municated with fair organizations of Vancouver aud other northern and Canadian Ca-nadian cities for advice and information informa-tion as to the best way to conduct a horse show in a city this sizo and has received many valuable hints and several sev-eral horse show premium lists. The horse show will undoubtedly be tho largest event of the fair and it is likely like-ly that, horses from all parts of the country will be entered for exhibition. Air. Ensign has begun an agitation to secure the replacing of the ornamental light poles and standards in tfho business busi-ness districts with new lights and globes before the N. E. A. convention bogins. Many of tho lights have burned out and are in a dilapidated condition and but very littlo work will be necessary to refurnish re-furnish the poles. D. F. Collott. secretary of the Utah Manufacturers association, said yesterday yester-day that it is being planned to exhibit Utah products in tho entire window space of the association in tho Chamber of Commerce. Tho spaco of tho window is .100 fcot, all told, and a general dis-1 play of Utah goods can he made. A committee consisting of "Dr. Frank .7. Alexander and fifteen others is in chargo of the work, and an expert window win-dow trimmer will be engaged to arrange the display. |
