Show KANSAS CITY UNIONS WILL ORDER STRIKE Twenty-five Thousand Men to (o Out July 1; Action Result of Lockout Lock-out by Builders. KANSAS CITY, June 27. The in dustrial council at a meeting tonight unanimousl3r recommended that a genera gen-era strike of all union crafts in Kansas Kan-sas City be called immediately. Twenty-five thousand men are Involved. Tonight's action follows the lockout against building trades unions which wont into effect several weeks ago. Sinco that time the master builders have thrown open their jobs and. employed em-ployed non-union mon, declaring in effect ef-fect "an "open shop." Union officials said after the meeting meet-ing that tho strike probably would bo-gin bo-gin July J. Tho 117 crafts in the city must indorse tho strike movement before be-fore it becomes effective. Labor leaders lead-ers said tonight, that all the crafts favored fa-vored the strike. Tho industrial council coun-cil is the supreme labor organization in Kansas City. Strike pickets and non-union' work-mon work-mon clashed sevoral times today, a number of non-union men being slightly injured. After a negro carpenter had been knocked down and -'beaten, all of the negro workmen quit. |
