Show PASADENA STAGES ROSE LARNIVAL Pasadena, Cal.. Jan. 1. Flowers of many varieties, of all the color of the rainbow, built into hundreds of floats, competed for honors today in the twenty-eighth annual tournament of roses. Southern California's wid-win-ter festival. The hotel division was next in line. One of the most spectacular exhibits exhi-bits was a series of ten floats depicting de-picting "The Garden of Allah." These were entered by the Tournament Tourna-ment of Roses association The title car was decorated in violets and Chinese Chi-nese lillies. with bronze and gold borders. bor-ders. The other cars that comprised the entry portrayed; "The Butterflies." Butter-flies." "The Lanters," "Prayer Rugs, ' The Fountain," "The Birds," "The Rose, ' "The Pavilion," "The Tulips," and "The Peacock." Four large floats were entered by Pasadena merchants. representing 1 "Ancient Thrones." These were-Egypt, were-Egypt, Assyria, China, Byzantium The Egyptian float, fifteen feet hJgh and seventeen feet long, had a body Of pink stocks, with papyrus and bam ! boo around the edges. 7e throne had four columns wound with pink carnations and blue corn flowers. The Assyrian throne bad a body of purple blossoms with panels in white carnations. The throno itself was of violets. The Chinese throne was done in red and yellow colorschcme, and that of Byzantium was worked out with floral garlands of blue smilax with hyzantino arches. In each of these floats the ruller occupied tho throne and many girls wero in attendance, attend-ance, garbed in appropriate costumes Tho Mid-Pacific Carnival association associa-tion of Honolulu, entered a float representing rep-resenting an outrigger canoe.
