Show SIM RESCUE I MANY FROM FIRE I Quebec. Jan. 1. Sisters of charity were without outside aid in rescuing ji inmates of the St. Ferdinand de Hall- fax insane asylum at St. Ferdinand de Halifax, Megantic county, when fire destroyed the building late Sat- I urday night resulting in the death of i 45 women inmates and one sister. The sister who fl lost her life was trying to save one jH of the inmates. 'I Advices received here today init- SH cated that the loss would not exceed H $10000. The cause of the fire was I not known. There was much suffering as the night was intensely cold. After the H flames had reached all parts of the building, so that no further attempts H at saving lives could be made, the H sisters turned their attention to car- ing for the survivors.
