MERRILL Interesting news among relatives rela-tives and friends is the announcement announce-ment of the marriage of Dr. Ruth Burgess, daughter of Mrs. Donna Burgess, of Roosevelt, and Dr. Reynold Cluff Merrill, of Philadelphia, Phil-adelphia, Penn., son of Mrs. Anna An-na L. Merrill, of Logan. The wedding ceremony was perform-1 ed Thursday, June 26, at 8 p, m. in the Yale ward chapel, Salt i Lake City; in the presence of im-! im-! mediate members of the families I and a few close friends, The 1 bride's uncle, Ray E. Dillman, i j president of the Roosevelt stake I of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, read the nup-1 tial rites. For the ceremony the bride chose a traditional white satin bridal gown. Her finger-tip veil fell from a tiara of seed pearls, and she carried a bouquet of gardenias and roses. She was attended at-tended by her sister, Lurrine Burgess, who wore a floor-length gown of yellow faille. Little Karen Evans, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edmund M. Evans, Ev-ans, acted as flower girl. Karl 'Burgess was best man. Immediately following the ceremony the young couple greeted friends and relatives at a reception held at the Yale ward Reception Centre. Assisting Dr, and Mrs. Merrill in receiving their guests were Mrs. Burgess, mother of the bride; Mrs. MerilL mother of the bridegroom, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Allen, Miss Lurrine Lur-rine Burgess and Mr, Karl Burgess. Bur-gess. After a wedding trip to Yellowstone Yel-lowstone National Park and iNiagra Falls, Dr. and Mrs. Mer-I Mer-I rill will make their home in I Philadelphia, where Dr. Merrill ' is employed in chemical research I for the Philadelphia Quartz Co. I The bride is a graduate of the University of Utah medical I school. She interned at the Philadelphia Phil-adelphia Woman's hospital and at the beginning of World War II enlisted in the U. S. Navy and was stationed at the Naval hospital hos-pital in Philadelphia. Since the close of the war she has been engaged in general medical prac-1 prac-1 tice in Roosevelt and in Salt Lake City. I Dr. Merrill is a graduate of, 'the Utah State Agricultural! 'collcgd and received his Ph. D. .in chemistry from Lcland Stanford Stan-ford University, Palo Alto, Cali-l Cali-l fornia. GILBERT-MURPHY NUPTIALS By Marvin Shields j Miss liulli Gilbert, daughter , of Mr. and Mrs. L. J. Gilbert, of ! Arcadia, and Edsel Murphy, neolic-w of Mrs. A. E. Edwards, of Myton, were united in mar-, riage in a ceremony solemnized June 25, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. A reception in the Arcadia LDS ward hall on June 27, -honored the young couple. Mr. and Mrs. Murphy left June 30 for California, where they will spend the summer. They will return in September to resume their school work at . the U.S.A.C. at Logan, Utah, where they were both students during the past year. Mr. Murphy is a veteran of World War II. BRIDGETTE Mrs. Elmer Eldredge chose colorful bouquets of summer flowers as decorations last Thursday Thurs-day when she entertained members mem-bers of the Bridgette club.
