Show Alton Storrs Addresses Union Meeting Alton Storrs, recently returned missionary from the Hawaiian Islands was the principal speaker at the Stake Priesthood and Union meeting of the Relief Society and Primary associations Sunday afternoon, March 10. In the preliminary exercises he expressed his appreciation for the opportunity op-portunity he had in going to the Islands, and briefly gave some of his experiences. In the Priesthood department following fol-lowing the separation, he said there were two reasons why Latter-day Saints attend their meetings: 1st, that they might1 be benefitted and blessed; 2nd, because they were commanded com-manded of the Lord to do so. He gave a brief description of the Hawaiian people, and spoke of the early day missionary work among that people. The Mormon people and their missionaries mis-sionaries are honored and looked up to by the Hawaiian people, he stated. He also felt that the influence of the Mormon temple in that land was far reaching. In conclusion, he related instances of the power of healing by the laying on of hands among the Ha-waiians. Ha-waiians. President Earl S. Gseenwood, who was in charge of the meeting, announced an-nounced a Temple Excursion for March 21, and urged the people to attend at-tend it. President Jesse M. Walker announced an-nounced the monthly High Priest meetings for 2 p. m. on the fourth Sunday in each month to be held in the tabernacle basement, before the Priests quorums. He also spoke briefly on (he new ruling of the j church concerning Sunday School : and Tuesday evening meetings. He' urged that every man and boy who' holds the Priesthood to attend these two meetings. Musical numbers consisted of the congregation singing "Redeemer of, Tsrael," "Now Let Us Rejoice" and, "Praise To The Man." Prayers were, given by S. T. Baker and Joseph' Mnyle. j |
