John Lind, -who Icted as President Wilson's special Representative Repre-sentative to Mexico and who since his return to this country has been the special representative of the state de partment in dealing with the constitutionalist consti-tutionalist agents in Washington, left here Tuesday night for his home in Minnesota. Exp.anatory of his departure Governor Gov-ernor Lind said: "I do not leel that there is any longer any necessity for giving my entire en-tire time to the government, and 1 asked the president to allow me tc leave for my home, in order that 1 may give attention to my personal affairs. af-fairs. My request was granted. "Of course, 1 will remain subject to the call of the president or the secretary sec-retary of state, and if at any time either of them thinks I will be of any assistance I will return to Washington. Washing-ton. I do not contemplate any such necessity. I think my absence from the capital will he permanent." Lind s retirement from further participation par-ticipation in the administration's dealing deal-ing with the Mexican situation, in which he has heen its chief adviser, is interpreted to mean that mediation is expected to he a long-drawn-out proceeding pro-ceeding with the likelihood of nc practical result in the end. |
