Show City Business Has Attention of Officers At the City Council meeting Saturday Satur-day the business below was disposed of. 'Minutes of last session held Feb. 1, read and approved. The matter of installing monuments on lots at cemetery, also disposition of certain unused cemetery lots were left with the Cemetery Committee to investigate and report back at the next regular session. The claim of Mr. Brown of Ameri. can Fork for damages to his car, caused by running into wash on a city street, was denied by the council, upon up-on the advice of City Attorney. Relative to the petition of the Lions Club for use of the center room of Library building, a motion was made by Councilman Clark, which carried, that the city accept the proposal of Lions Club to assume the expense of renovation for use of same and that definite contract be drawn up between the city and the Lions Club for the period to December 31, 1931. After considerable discussion relative rela-tive to the petition of a number of citizens to open the street extending Main street north to the cemetery, it was decided to call a citizens mass meeting in the near future to consider con-sider the adbvisability of calling a bond election to decide the matter. Chairman Dickerson of the "Waterworks "Water-works Committee reported that arrangements ar-rangements had been made to purchase pur-chase a used truck for the waterworks water-works department, with the understanding under-standing that it would have to be in good condition throughout. Investigation was made regarding the petition of D. W. West for use. of city well for culinary purposes. It was agreed that Mr. West pay $5.00 per year for the water, the city to make necessary connections. In harmony with the further recommendation recom-mendation of Chairman Dickeraon motion was made by Council Bezzant which carried that the Waterworks Committee be authorized and instruct, ed to advertise for bids for the digging dig-ging and back filling of trenches for re-placement work. Chairman Bezzant of streets reported report-ed that work of grading streets was under way. Also that the wash on the street near the city gravel pit had been filled. . Chairman Clark of City Property was authorized by the council to purchase pur-chase hose for the fire department. Chairman Fugal of the Cemetery Committee reported that he had made investigation regarding the sale of cemetery lots at American Fork and Lehi, and found that those cities were selling lots at practically the same price as they were being sold here. - |
