Show Melvin Smith Dies At Home Of Daughter In Price, Utah Melvin Smith, 59, resident of Lin-don, Lin-don, died Saturday morning, May 3, while visiting his daughter, Mrs. Melba Richins, at her home in Price. Death followed a heart attack. Mr. Smith was born in Pleasant Grove, April 15, 1S70. He has been a successful farmer and nurseryman and was one of the first fruit inspectors inspec-tors of Pleasant Grove. His wife died in 1911. Surviving are the following sons and daughters: daught-ers: Mrs. Vilate Rodebeck, Provo; Mrs. Melba Richins, Price; Mrs. Katie Cordner, Orem; Mrs. Reba Lee, Venice, California; DeWitt Smith, student of the U. A. C. at Logan; Roland, Russell and Verona Smith, all of Lindon. Twenty-one grandchildren also survive as well as the following brothers and sisters: D. Miley and Earl Smith, Mrs. Alvira Olpin of Pleasant Grove; Burdette Smith of Ogden, and Mrs. Ella Winters of Garland. Gar-land. Funeral services were held in the Lindon ward chapel Tuesday at 2 p. m. Impressive funeral services were held Tuesday at 2 p. m. in the Lindon Lin-don meeting house. Counselor Charles Cobbley was in charge. The speakers were Bishop A. H. Lowe of the Windsor ward, Patriarch S. L. Swenson, Stake President, W. W. Warnick, A. L. Cullimore, Bishop David B. Thorne and Counselor Cob-blev. Musical numbers consisted of the selection "O My Father" sung by a quartet composed of Layfayette G. Wright, Jesse Walker, Laura Walker, Ora Ash and Elroy Gillman; an organ or-gan solo "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" Some-where" by Helen Swenson; a quartet "Savior Comfort Me" by John Payne and others; a vocal solo "My Faith In Thee" by May R. Walker and the closing song "Still Still With TheeJi by the Payne quartet. The invocation was given by James T. Wright and the benediction benedic-tion pronounced by Ezra F. . Walker. Interment was made in the Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove cemetery, where Edmun Cragun dedicated the grave. . n |
