Show EXPLOSION INJURES SIX. Missed Shot Causes Serious Accident on the Southern Pacific. Ogden. Six men were seriously in-lured in-lured Saturday at the rock quarry at Promontory Point, on the line of the Southern Pacific cut-off, by the explosion explo-sion of a "missed shot." All the injured in-jured were within ten feet of the shot, and suffered external as well as Internal injuries. A work train was standing on a sidetrack near the quarry waiting for the blasting to be completed before loading. The train was in charge of Conductor Jenkins with Brakemen Tribe and Earhart, Engineer Ward-leigh Ward-leigh and Fireman Carlson. The blasting blast-ing was being done under the direction direc-tion of Blasting Foreman Erick Gus-tafson. Gus-tafson. The first blast had been fired at 7:30 and the second was to immediately im-mediately follow. As it had seemed to miss fire the men were looking for the lead wire to the second hole, and were about ten feet from the hole when the explosion occurred. Jenkins was the most seriously injured, in-jured, although the faHh'pftt away from the scene of the explosion. |
