Show QUARTETTE DF DESPERADOES HOLD OP PASSENGER TRAIN Dverland Limited Held Up Near Omaha, Seven Registered Mail Pouches Being Secured by H ighwaymen. Omaha, Neb. Four masked bandits held up and robbed Union Pacific passenger train No. 2, known as the overland limited, a few miles west of the city just before midnight Saturday, Satur-day, May 22, and secured seven registered reg-istered mail pouches. The sacks are believed to have contained con-tained a large sum. The robbers evidently evi-dently got on the train at some town West of here. The hold-up occurred about five miles west of the city limits lim-its in a deep cut along the recently constructed Lane cut-off. The robbers climbed down over the lank and forced the engineer to stop his train and then proceeded to the mail car. The clerks were forced to ipen the door and hand out a number Df pouches of registered mail. Once they secured the bags they hurried away in a southerly direction direc-tion and permitted the train to proceed. pro-ceed. The passengers were not molested mo-lested and as soon as the robbers left Lhe scene of the hold-up the train came to this city. A big squad of police hurried to the scene and quickly started in pursuit nf the bandits. |
