Show Appreciative, j Alter the butchers closed their stalls ou Wednesday evening a number num-ber of tho "bloody clan" met at Mr. C. Popper's shop, and sent a request to the venerable knight of tho cleaver, Mr. W. Short, to be present. On the arrival of that gentleman, Mr. J. H. Picknell presented him, in behalf of ihe butchers of the city, with a handsomely hand-somely and appropriately engraved silver medal, as a token of respect and appreciation for his action in petitioning the City Council to reduce butcher's license fees from $100 per annum to 50. Complimentary-speeches Complimentary-speeches wero made by Messrs.
