Show MRS i H M JONES aies ES IN II SIT IT UKE iffie ein CM funeral will be held here today for prominent church worker mrs hortense M jones widow of george M jones former richfield postmaster and county chelk of sevier county lied died at the home of her daughter mrs jonathan lloyd E street salt lake city friday night the date of her husbands birthday anniversary mrs jones had gone to salt lake about a month ago to visit her daughters mrs lloyd and mrs N 0 fullmer and while there becaj became ne afflicted with heart trouble trouble which with complications incident to old age resulted in her death other members of the family were called to salt lake tuesday of last week to be at her bedside mrs jones many friends had watched with concern her failing health ever since the death of her cpr husband about two years ago hortense INI jones was born bom july 2 1859 at geneva switzerland a daughter of john daniel and josephine lang she resided in salt lake for several years receiving her education in the social hall miss cooks school and the university of deseret she was as an officer in the first retrenchment association organized by president brigham young in 1862 she married goo M jones and in 1897 the family moved to richfield she was prominent in church and educational work she served in the ward primary for four or five years and from 1902 to 1915 1916 she was a member of the stake primary board filling the office of president for five years she was a sunday school teacher when there was only one ward in richfield she was constantly active in relief society work as a teacher a member of the program committee and an active class leader she wa was s a member of ward and stake genealogical committees a keeper of genealogical genealogical records and a teacher of record kee keeping ing she also assisted her bust husband and fo for r years in in compiling compili nj r statistical and historical reports she attended numerous genealogical conventions and did a vast amount of temple work not only on her own and her husbands continued on page 4 MRS AIRS H al JONES DIES FRIDAY IN SALT LAKE continued from page 1 record but for many others surviving are four daughters mrs orson orso n F christensen and miss bliss hortense jones richfield mrs jonathan lloyd and mrs airs N 0 fullmer salt lake 17 grandchildren and a brother daniel J lang europe funeral services were held at the lindquist sons carlquist mortuary salt lake sunday afternoon after which the body was brought to richfield services will be held here beginning at one this afternoon in the sevier stake tabernacle and interment will be in the city cemetery at the services in salt lake the speakers were frank S former bishop of the seventeenth ward miss bliss may blay anderson general president of primary associations and joseph christensen bishop of the tenth waid and recorder of the salt lake temple prayers were by robert hansen and bishop eugene M cannon of the forest dale ward Alu musical numbers included vocal solos by miss bliss margaret and mrs airs jos N bowen a violin solo by max alax lloyd a grandson accompanied by his sister miss aliss melba lloyd and a quartet by four granddaughters misses ruth and norma thirsten sen ina lloyd and pearl fullmer many former Richfield ians attended the services |
