Show dish VISITS LU FOB TIME inspirational discourses mark conference of sevier stake sylvester Q cannon presiding bishop represented the general church authorities at the quarterly conference of the sevier stake held here saturday evening and sunday it was his first visit to the sevier stake president R D young presided at all sessions and music was furnished for the sunday sessions by the stake choir under the direction of mrs airs helen poulson with miss melba cope as organist although lie he touched on other subjects bishop cannon devoted his remarks saturday evening largely to the training of boys in the priesthood and in other sessions stressed prayer and the observance of the word of wisdom at the faist session the speakers in addition to bishop cannon were president jas at peterson bishop J C cowley dr T R gledhill and mrs airs jessie B poulson A vocal solo was rendered by miss madge peterson the program at the sunday school session included congre congregational a singing prayer two and a half minute talk james hoyle jr of glenwood vocal solo miss ruby thurber church history story mrs etta talks miss rachel young returned missionary missionary sio nary dr E W poulson president H P F gunn and bishop cannon the pleasing rendition of anthems by the choir and vocal solos by mrs helen poulson and mr hawks contributed to the success of the sunday afternoon session president young who himself spoke briefly surprised the audience by unexpectedly calling on a number of people to give two and a half minute talks preceding an interesting discourse by bishop cannon miss madge peterson related missionary experiences at this session her sister una who labored with her as a missionary was to have talked but was unable unab le to attend on account of sickness the al 1 I A conducted a special program in the evening at which bishop cannon was again the main speaker |
