Show EVIDENCE ALL IN V V Arguments in the Davis Murder Trial at Provo Attorneys Sutherland ana Henderson Make Strong Pleas for the Defense The Jury Will Be Charged This Morning PROVO Dec 23 During the entire session of court yesterday the jury wag attentively listening to the arguments of counsel in the Davis murder case George Sutherland foV the defense followed V fol-lowed Mr Zane and made a strong and logical plea Explanations in reference to the different degrees of murder made by the district attorney were denounced as incorrect and the speaker read to the jury just what the law says upon the subject V giving explanation as he went along Coming down to the battle between Davis and Brock it was assumed that the latter was the aggressor and came upon the defendant with such ferocity as to render it impossible for him to escape with his life without taking violent measures Judge Henderson also made a plea for the defendant He spoke forcibly on all points connected with the case and no doubt did all for the defendant that tho merits of the case demanded Mr Zane closed in an eloquent speech and reached a climax when he referred to the dead men whose lips had all been sealed by the defendant from telling the story of the tragedy He begged that the V jurors do their duty the duty they owo to justice their country and society Judge Blackburn reserved his charge to the jury until this morning at 10 oclock V The case has created a great interest in the public mind and every day the case has been in progress the courthouse has been filled with spectators William Henry who has been employed on the fire building fell from a scaffold yesterday and broke a rib After being taken into Payne Maibens drug store for treatment he was relieved of any excruciating ex-cruciating pain Daniel Evans was in Provo yesterday on legal business V Attorney Marshal was seen in court yesterday yes-terday |
