Show Florida Law Provides For Drastic Conscription TALLAHASSEE, FLA. Residents of Florida have been living under a conscription provision of the state constitution far more drastic than the Burke-Wadsworth act Article 14 of the state constitution constitu-tion reads: "All able-bodied male Inhabitants of the state, between the ages of 18 and 45 years that are citizens citi-zens of the United States, or have declared their intention to become citizens thoreof, shall constitute the militia of the state." State Rep. William J. Ray of Bra-denton Bra-denton pointed out that the article says "all" and not "some" able-bodied able-bodied citizens, and says "shall constitute con-stitute the militia," not "may." |
