Show Car Wrecked In Attempt To Avoid Striking Boy In attempting to avoid striking a 11-year-old boy on the State highway between American Fork and Lehi Mrs. Rhoda J. McKinney swevered her' car too sharply yesterday afternoon after-noon causing it to overturn and roll into the slough just east of the A. A. Green farmi on the south, side of the road. The boy, Lowe N. Peterson, 11, son of Mr. and Mrs. Francis M. Peterson, of this city, is in the Lehi hospital suffering from bruises and a severe bump on his head received when he was knocked onto the highway. high-way. Mrs. 'McKinney escaped with a slight cut on the forehead and bruises about the shoulders. The car was damaged considerable, the top, fenders, lights, and hood were mashed mash-ed and all the glass broken. The .steering wheel was also broken. Mrs. McKinney was driving east and the boys were afoot on the side of the road. She- honked and one of the boys started across the road after looking up. To avoid him she made a wide turn to the north but did nof completely miss him. Finding herself her-self heading directly for a power poll she .swevered sharply back to the right overturning the car which landed facing west off the south side of the road. Both were rushed to the Lehi hospital where reports last evening were that the boy had no broken bones and seemed to be not seriously injured. o |
