Preparations are all in shape for I lie annual Farm liureau Day of Utah County, 'vhlch in to take place next Tiii.'.silay and Wed nesday, August 13 and 1-1, at Vivian I'ark in Prove canyon. can-yon. A complete program of activities ac-tivities beginning Tuesday evening and extending until midnight of the following day lias been worked out under the direction of County Agent W. J. Thayne. Eight thousand people from all parts of tho county are expected to be in attendance at the outing, which Is fast becoming one of the big events of Utah county. Contrary to rumors there will be no charge for entrance of cars into Vivian Park that day. Admission is absolutely free of charge. One of the big features of the day's event will bo the baseball (playoff of the "A" and "B" divisions of the Utah County Farm Bureau league to determine the championship of the loop- One game will be played in the morning, with another contest slated for the afternoon. A baseball diamond will be laid out Monday under the direction of County Surveyor Hugo Price and the entire playing area will be put in shape under the direction of Manager Chrlatenson of the park. Ample seating seat-ing arrangements will be provided for the crowds. A group of dancers from Lake Shore will demonstrate Swedish folk dancing Tuesday evening, in connection connec-tion witli a snappy stunt program which' is being arranged under the direction -of Vilate Jones, secretary of the Utah county farm bureau. Another feature will be the popu-' popu-' lar tug-of-war contest. A manomeler . ' e purchased by the state to measure the pull in the war between the north and south ends of the county will be used. According to representatives of the state fair board and other states where it has been used, it has revol- jff utionized the tug-of-war and now ' t makes it a very interesting event. The tug-of-war this year, under ,' the supervision of R. D. Morgan for . ,. the south end of the county and Clyde Gillman for the north end, will be a bigger feature than the horse pulling contest. Some of the huskiest men .t from both part3 of the county have ( been selected to compete. A prize ,, for the best team will be given. ij fj ' Ev-Governor Charles R. Mabey and many other friends of the Utah ' ' county people wjll be present that day to participate in the various events and speak on the programs.
