Show MAY 25,2006 Page 6 THE GARFIELD COUNTY INSIDER ESCALANTE NEWS ...by Chris Haycock. 435-826-4832, plateofdredms@scinternet.net The Escalante 4-H Horse Program has started for this year and is doing well. The first Horse Show for the season was held in Panquitch on Sat. May 13th. All County horse shows are open to participants 9 years of age to 18years. The age groups in 4-H are 3 - 5 grade Junior, 6 - 8 grade Intermediate, and 9 - 12th grade Senior. On Saturday there were two classes youth could participate in, 2 handed and individual. Each class has mulitple events. In the 2 handed there were 6 youth to compete and recieve ribbons. Ryan Brooks - 3 Blue, Kadee Litteral - 2 Blue I Red, Jared Noyes - 2 Blue 1 Red, Justin Porter - 2 Blue 1 Red, Dawz Cochran - I Blue and Cru Cochran - 1 Red. In the individual classes we had 18 youth compete & receive ribbons. 7 of the youth were Jrs. Lindsey Phillips - 5 Blue 1 Red 1 White, Bret Brooks - 1 Blue 5 Red 1 White, Karlee Litteral - 1 Blue 6 Red, Savannah Steed - 1 Blue 5 White, Jared Noyes - 4 Blue 3 Red, Audrey Austin - 2 Blue 3 Red 2 White, Miles Austin - 3 Red 2 White 2 Orange. Five were intermediates; Ryan Brooks - 6 Blue 1 Red, Cassidy Litteral - 5 Blue 2 Red, Benny Carrizosa - 4 White 2 Orange, Dawz Cochran - 6 Red 1 Orange, Susanna Holiday - 2 Red 4 White 1 Orange. Five were Seniors; Dalton Lisonbee - 6 Blue 1 Red, Justin Porter - 5 Blue 1 Red 1 White, Nick Carrizosa - 2 Red 4 White, Julie Eckert - 2 Red 4 White 1 Orange, Cru Cochran - 2 Blue 5 Red. Each youth has done very well. For every ribbon the youth earns they get points for. Blue Ribbons are 15 points, Red Ribbons 10 points, White Ribbons 5 points and Orange Ribbons are 1 point. The High Point winners for each age group were; Lindsey Phillips - Junior, Ryan Brooks - Intermediate, and Dalton Lisonbee - Senior. The next Horse Show will be June 17th at 9:00 a.m. in Escalante at the Escalante Rodeo Grounds. These kids are to be congratulated. To do well in these events in takes a lot of time spent not only on themselves but on their horses. The horses need to know what is expected of them also. Its a team effort all the way around. Now folks don't forget about all of the Events going on this weekend.
