"Although new in the United States, the auction plan of selling sell-ing wool is one of the most com-1 com-1 monly used in AustraJia, the worlds . largest sheep producing country, where it is estimated that nearly 9 percent of the crop is sold in this manner. "Numerous advantages are seen for the auction selling plan," Mr. Wilkins said. "In the first place it will give the producers an opportunity op-portunity to sell their wool under the benefits of competitive bidding. They will be able to dispose of their clip on a certain definite date and receive full cash settlement when it is sold. Larger buyers will be attracted on account of the opportunity op-portunity provided for them to purchase pur-chase sizeable quanities of the particular par-ticular class of wool that will meet their exact requirements." "Much of the waste in transportation trans-portation and buying costs can be eliminated through the assembling of small lots at one place so that the producer can obtain capacity load shipments. And, inasmuch as each consignment will be sold individually good wools will not be penalized as is often the case when they are sold in pools or collectively col-lectively with poorer wools." The Merrion and Wilkins company com-pany will use the Coliseum at the Ogden Union Stockyards in wheich ,to hold the auction. They are equipped to accept consignments |
