"Tobe" Kessler and his brother, Clarke, have taken a bond and Jease on the Blue John mine, in the Star district, adjoining the Estella, and are taking out Borne good copper ore. Beaver Oopper has almost reached the ore-bearing fissure. While the main shaft is down close to 150 feet, crosseutting was done from the 100 foot level. But a few feet remain to be pierced before the fissure is encountered, en-countered, Messrs. Champion, Carter and Pas-sett, Pas-sett, lessees of the Empire mine, located between the Wild Bill and Cedar-Talisman mines, are pushing operations and are getting geod results. They report 40 lead, 8f eopper and S5 zinc in their workings. The Mineral t)oA ftange company has resumed operations. Dan Ferguson, Fer-guson, well-known here, is in full charge of the workings and believes he can develop a good mine. The property lies between the Cedar-Ta4j6ma.u Cedar-Ta4j6ma.u and t(ja Harripgon Hickpry " mjqes. Two shifts are now working find a tunnel pas been started. It is aimed to drift for the Harrington vein, crosseutting to the east-west fissure. Mining men everywhere, should deluge the congressmen representing their districts, with protests against the passage of the general revenue bill which imposes a tax of 1 on a eopper prpductipn of from $2, 000 to ?, 000, 000; iff, on $1, 000,000 to $10,000,000 i 9 on more than $10,000,00. See the editorial on the bill in tjlis issue. The Lady Bryan, Star district, is under a steady system of development, develop-ment, according to gupt. Davie, and has been for tfio past three years, litf) very satisfactory results. This mine bas between sixty and. seventy thousand tons pf shipping blocked out. The last strike was in lead-iron ore, which carries 38$ lead, 18 oz. silver, and $1.48 gold. The average run of the big bodies is from (12 to $18 per ton, and some of the smaller chntes will carry as high as 12 oz. silver. This PfPperfy ! PwPef! b7 ?Pton t people. An eight foot strike of lead-sjlver C are has beep made at the 155 fopt level 1 of the Lucky Boy mine, Oroif group, ' in the Lincoln District. High zinc values have also developed. North and south drifts have begun. The ' strike occurred in a crosscut about forty feet east of the main shaft, D seems to be a commercial ore body. Assays taken show it to carry '4$ cents "gold, 11.2 ojc. silver, .27$ copper, zinc and 21$ lead. The Croft property has recently been thoroughly thorough-ly equipped with machinery for! aggressive work. The Croff lies next the Creole and it is thought this new strike may be a continuation of the Creole ere body. Cedar Talisman now has ten men at work, according to an interview givea to the Herald Republican by Mr. Josephs, Managing Director, who, in company with S. S. Pond and Murray Shickof Salt Lake, has just inspected the mine. There is lead ore in five places, from the 100 down to the 800 foot levels, with fifty tons of lead ore in the bins and fifty tons at th Salt Lake markets. Some high-grade zinc ore is also being extracted. Lead found on the S00 foot level is the deepest that lead has yet been opened in the mine. This makes a continuous showing of 800 feet on the strike of a regular fissure fis-sure vein. The ore varies from one to two and a half feet. There is a a winze from the 225 level which bas been suuk for 50 feet, all in ore. The mine is electrically lighted. Another car of lead ore will beshipped this week. The Creole has just shipped its forty-fifth car of ore. The last lot of ore settled for netted $17.37 per ton and totaled $565.24. Ore that runs less than 6fo copper will not be shipped in the future. Practically all of the shipped ore is high in iron. It also carries gold and silver values. The ore is found, in contact between the granite and footwall and the hanging wall of limestoue, and seem to be making in the limestone. The shaft is now down about 225 feet and the winze is down more than sixty feet below the bottom of the shaft. It is believed that greater copper values will be found as the depth increases. A hoist has been ordered and will be installed at. once. This will serve to a depth of 700 feet from the surface. New strikes of considerable value have beeB made i the winge off the drift, below the main shaft. - The old Success group, Beaver Lake district, consisting of nine claims, is for saje and the NEWS is informed that the property can be had ior a very reasonable price. There are nine claims in all. Surrounding these claims are the United Copper, Beaver Lake Metals and Copper Mountain mines. One shaft on the property has already three or four cars of ore ready for shipment. Application for patent on these claims has been made, notice of whiob is nW running in the NEWS. The Milford Mercantile Company, the owner being in tie merchandising business, does cot desire to "mix trades," henoe the offer to sell.
