Show Mammoth Sugar Factory To Be Formally Opened Residents of the Valley Will Hold "High Jinks" and Celebrate Event Big Program and Dance. The Gunnison Valley Sugar factory, fac-tory, the pride of Southern Utah, will be formally opened to the public on Monday, September 29. At a meeting of several of the representative rep-resentative farmers of the valley held at Conterfield last Tuesday night, definite plans were made for the occasion oc-casion and committees appointed and while the program has not as yet been completed, it wilt" be the intention inten-tion of those in charge to make the event one of the very best ever held In the southern part of the state. At the Centerfield meeting and which was presided over by Bishop Ernest Swalberg, the following committees were ippointed to make arrangements arrange-ments for the big celebration And "opening day" festivities: Program and advertising, Bishop E. L. Swalberg; Swal-berg; Committee on finance, J. A. Tuft, Morlin Sorenson and Joseph Jensen; Committee on refreshments, Chris A. Peterson, Byron Tuft and J. V. Joues; Sports committee, Richard Rich-ard B. Jensen and Aaron Jensen. The several committees, at an informal in-formal meeting, outlined a plan for the celebration and in it will be included in-cluded a big dinner, and an all-afternoon program, and to be concluded with a grand dance. There is to be addresses, sports and a general good time. The main feature, however, will be the inspection of tlie mammoth mam-moth sugar factory. The management of the factory has announced that on the day. of the celebration the doors will be thrown open and that the entire plant will be put into operation and all wheels will be turning. There will be a coterie co-terie of guides to escort visitors through the factory and every detail ivill be explained on converting the beets as they come from the fields into sugar as it is prepared for uses. It is not only going to be a South Sanpete county affair, but invitations invita-tions will be extended to the citizens from all over the southern sections. In addition to the officials here and the multitude of farmers, their wives r.nd children from the valley, afficials bf the company from Salt Lake will tie present at the ceremonies and Gunnison Valley will mark a record llay in the opening of the sugar factory. fac-tory. The Gunnison Valley Sugar company com-pany plant is among the very best in ..he state. Upon its final completion it will have cost in the neighborhood of $1,000,000. Throughout it is fequipped with the very latest and improved im-proved machinery fcr the manufacture manufac-ture of sugar.
