Show CONCRETE WALL GAVE WAY, SMASHING DOWN THE ROOF Biigham City, Aug. 11 Yesterday f fternoon an employee of the Marlon Orchard company reported at the office of-fice that the roof of the huge barn being erected on the company's premises prem-ises had caved in, as a result of a concrete con-crete wall having given away. The company, having decided to enter (he dairy business In connection with tho iiult industry, was engaged in having hav-ing large up-to-date cow stabler erected. The concrete walls of the bnrn that caved In were over 100 fett in length, and It appeared upon Investigation In-vestigation that the carpenters en-C-ige.l In placing tho roof on had neglected neg-lected to properly nail the joists and lafiers, and the north wall finally f,ave way, letting the roof down with the two workmen, who were engaged at the time In shingling. The men had a very narrow escape from b?-ing b?-ing crushed under the falling material, mater-ial, but escaped with but few-scratches. few-scratches. The concrete work had been built at a .great expense to the owners, owing ow-ing to the fact that the gravel for the mixing hail to be hauled nearly ten miles, and to rebuild tho wall will mean another largo expenditure to th company, besides considerable ruined ruin-ed timber. |
