Orders have been telegraphed to San Francisco, Fran-cisco, directing the immediate embarkation em-barkation of battery c, Utah nrUUeiy, for Manila. Batteries A aud I! have preceded battery C. and till are in for a long tour of duty, according to the statement of the adjutant general. In commenting upon the petition of .i ' i.I'o. Colo,'l"l volunteers, now in the 1 hilippine islands, to be mustered out. Adjutant General -Corbin said that all the volunteers in the Philippines would be required to remain therefor many months to come. In view of the expense and difficulty of transporting J'Uge. bodies of men to the Philippines, the department would expect t roons to remain patiently at their posts until relieved. 1 |
