Show JlTO. A party was held on the evening of the 28th inst in honor of Heber E. Harrison, Har-rison, who is called to fill a mission in the Southeastern states. We were blest with the presence of brothers dull', Giles and Stephens of the Brig-ham Brig-ham Young Academy faculty, and a delightful time was had in listening to speeches, songs, recitations, etc., The hearts of the Saints were cheered, and our young men encouraged to the prosecution pros-ecution of their duties. The necessity of education was dwelt upon by Brother Stephens with much power and eloquence. elo-quence. The music was very enlivening. enliven-ing. After the meeting, an elegant repast re-past was served by the young ladies of the M. I. A. under whose auspices the party was gotten up and conducted. These young ladies deserve great commendation com-mendation for the thorough manner in which they conduct such affairs. The surrounding settlements as far as Kan-arra, Kan-arra, St. George, Pine Valley, Hebron, and many other places sent in their quota of visitors, making a veritable Jubilee of the affair. The last hours were spent in dancing, and all departed feeling that it had been good to be there. We wish success to Brother Harrison in his mission, and the Washington Wash-ington News in particular, drives that far along. J. C. Pinto, Utah, October 29, 1S98. |
