Show Football Prospects Good At College and High; First Game Friday With the first game tomorrow afternoon, aft-ernoon, the football bug is stronger strong-er than ever at Dixie this year. A large group of boys have turned out for both the college and high school squads, and the prospects for a successful season are very bright, according to Coach Watts. The game tomorrow will be a six-man practice tilt, with the Moapa high school coming to the local field at 3 p. m. Coach Watts will have to rebuild re-build his college squad, but he has four good regulars of last year to start on. They are Gilbert Tob-ler, Tob-ler, end; John Belingheri, tackle; and Junior Nielson and LeGrandc Frei, halfbacks. In addition he will have a reserve or two, some of the high school stars, and a fairly large group of candidates from Delta, Fillmore, Kanab, Enterprise, En-terprise, Tropic and Hurricane. One or two other regulars of last year may return to the squad soon. A total of 31 candidates have turned out for practice to date. Coach Watts will build his six-man six-man team around Dee Frost, regular reg-ular end of last year; Kent Reber. regular half of a year ago; and Cleyon Stucki, a reserve of his last year's squad. He has a half-dozen half-dozen reserves with experience and a galaxy of freshmen to choose from. A few sophomores, new at the game, have also turned out for practice. In the game tomorrow it is likely that a large group will see action. Under fire the boys will show what they have to merit starting positions for the later league tussels. |
