I. Thayne had to have consent of his parents when he enlisted in the Navy Sept. 1, 1941, and this has been a busy and educational year for him. He is the only son of the Wright's, but knowing his heart was bent on doing his full share for Liberty, they did not with-hold their consent, when he told them his desire to enlist. He trained first at Mare Island and later was transferred to the Great Lakes Naval training base, and from there to the Newport officers' training school. He will not be 19, until Dec. 17. A graduate gradu-ate of Hurricane high school, where he starred in athletics, he has always had a flare for chemistry chem-istry and says he is getting work along that line and liking it. |
