J I Apples and Honey: For something different that has a very definite lift to it, try apple slices fried in I honey. It is a tasty tidbit which calls for more than one return engagement. Ingredients: Eight apples, one-half teaspoon tea-spoon salt, two tablespoons honey, three tablespoons bacon drippings, two tablespoons table-spoons water. Directions: Cut washed apples into quarters, quar-ters, remove stem, blossom -ends and seeds. Cut into medium thin slices. When grease is hot in skillet, add apples, salt and honey I mixed with water. Cook over high heat for I five minutes, then reduce heat for about 25 I minutes longer. I For a variation on this recipe you might h slice the apples as you slice a pineapple I (whole slices with core removed) and saute I until nearly tender. Add one teaspoonful 1 honey to each serving. Good with ham, meat 1 loaf or sausage. |
