Snow and his committee put : over Washington county's part in ; the Fourth War Bond drive is Joseph Crane Simmons, nine-yoar-old son of Mr. and Mrs. J. S. (Joel Simmons, who takes pride in displaying his 1"1 war bonds. For his ninth birthday anni- versary. Jan. 5th. Mr. Simmons j gave his son his 100th, and with , the money he received otherwise, Crane purchased his 101st bond, j He says he can get along with-out with-out much candy or show ticket.s if he can help Uncle Sam "Lick the Japs". Every dime he pets , for running errands or do:n.? odd j jobs goes into war stamps and he surprises himself how fast the book fills up and he has another bond. I lis bond-buying habit began nearly two years aso when he won a $15.0t prize as "Lk.n Tamer" at the Dixie P.ound-U;. (Continued on page four) Crane Simmons (Continued from first page) Since that time he has methodi-caly methodi-caly saved and worked to increase his number of stamps and bonds. He was the first St. George boy to obtain a hunting license for Nazis and Japs and says he is going to use that license the best way a boy can, by buying every war stamp and bond he can. He is proud that his bonds total 101 to begin this fourth drive, and says he is "going to buy more and more" 'till the big job is done. He says it is fun to add each new bond and he thanks the St. George Lions for giving him a start. |
