Show OBITUARIES Fredrick J. Petersen Funeral services for Frederick J. Petersen, 85, retired blacksmith who had lived in Smithfield 14 years, were conducted Tuesday at noon in the Smithfield Second ward chapel by Asa Weeks, bishop. Mr. Petersen died Saturday night of ailments incident to age. He was born September 14, 1859 in Vernsted, Denmark, a son of Soren Christian and Christine Christensen Nielsen and came to the United States in 1888 as a convert con-vert to the LDS church. He lived liv-ed at Bancroft, Idaho for many years before moving to Smithfield. j Mr. Petersen was a member of j the Smithfield stake high priest I quorum and had been active in j church work most of his life. , He married Jacobine Peterson j October 23, 1882. She died seven i years ago. I Survivors include four sons and ' five daughters: Mrs. John J. Rob- ! erts and Mrs. Oscar Nelson,- of I Logan; Mrs. W. K. Willis and j Herman Petersen. of Pocatello, Idaho; Mrs. G. L. Wilding, of Hunter; Francis H. Petersen, of Smithfield; Mrs. James T. Miller, of Salt Lake City; Le Roy Petersen, Peter-sen, of Delco, Idaho; Arthur Petersen, Pet-ersen, of Seattle, Wash.; 49 grand children, seven of whom are serving serv-ing in the armed forces, and 51 great grand children. Burial' was in Logan cemetery under direction of the W. Loyal Hall mortuary. Jay L. Gunnell Funeral services for Jay Le Grande Gunnell, 9, son of Le Grande B. and Blanche Winn Gunnell, who died Wednesday morning at the family home, at Smithfield, were conducted today at 2 p. m. in the Smithfield Second Se-cond ward chapel b,y A. D. Weeks, bishop. The boy had been ill for four months. He was born January 6, 1936 in Logan, and was a student at the S'ummit school. Survivors include his parents, one sister, Eleanor Gunnell, of J Smithfield, and three grandparents, grandpar-ents, Willitm L. Winn, of Smith-field, Smith-field, and Mr. and Mrs. George O. Gunnell, of Huntington Park, Cal. Burial in Smithfield cemetery was under direction of the Ken-neth Ken-neth Lindquist mortuary of Logan. |
