Show FOREIGN. THE WAR. Wonderful Success ot (he Rus-aiaua. Rus-aiaua. Adrianople, 21. Suleiman Pasha landed yesterday at Dedeagatscb, the terminuB of the Marmora railway to Adrianople. He is expected at Kon leli Saragus to-morrow. YeniSaghra has been burned by the Bulgarians. The railway between here and Buz-ardjid Buz-ardjid is still intact. Constantinople, 21, A telegram from Shumla reports that all villages between Rustchuk and ICuslendje evacuated by the Turks have been sacked aod burned by the Bulgarians. New York, 2L The Russians during dur-ing the week past have proclaimed little, but performed prodigies in war. All partiejnow admit their great euo cess. The Turks are in great panic. The general deduction from the litest news is that a considerable Russian force is marching rapidly to Adrianople, Adrian-ople, while another force holds in check the Turkish army, who have defended Schopka Pass. The recent sudden changes in Turkish commanders command-ers aro considered significant ot the Turkish disaster. Before Abdul Kerim's successor can visit bis new command the Russians will probably have rendered his operations desperate, desper-ate, lbs ohances are, however, that the recent Russian demonstrations wero only preparatory, and that some time will yet elapse before any grand movement into the country south ol the Balkans will be attempted, if indeed it is done before Rustchuk is reduced. Gtmeral Gourka's brilliant movement across the mountains bus unmasked the Turkish defense and demonstrated its inefficiency. With the railroad from Rustchuk cut, and the Beizure of the railroad running towards Adrianope, which now seems imminent, the position both of the fortified Turkish camp of Shumla and the whole quadrilateral will be scri ouBly compromiaed. Military experts here predict that unless the Turkscan fight a great open field battle with success at an early day the Russian line of communication will be placed beyond danger, while the Turkish communications leading to the quad rilateral will bo greatly endangered, if not destroyed. Then the Turkish position will be not unlike Lee's when ho surrendered at Appomatox, I except that a considerable portion ol the Turkish army may be able to avoid surrender by a fatal flight towards to-wards Varna. |
