Show Officprs of the steamer Ben ion, which reached Bismarck July 9th, report that they met Major Walah, of the nortliwc-slern police, at Fort Benton Ben-ton on the 29th ult. The major reports re-ports tint after the departure of Father Martin Sitting Bull surrendered surren-dered his arms and ponies to him, and promised to behave himself, in consideration of being allowed to remain re-main in the Brittish possessions, where he now is. A portion of the arms and some ammunition, sufficient suffi-cient for hunting purposes, were re stored to him, and all of ids ponie-; but he was given distinctly to understand under-stand lhat he need not expect favor from her majesty unless he behaved himself. |
