He eat the hahy on the floor, and then got up on the back of a chair and readied. He got the cherry pie in one band and the opeu box of sardines sar-dines in the other, and then the bby lipped iho chair over. As he was coming down to meet the baby he grabbed the knife box. Tho baby evidently was not expecting him, and sbo hadn't fixed things to receive him. The knile-box reached him first, and as he came down he sat on tho sharp end of it. He did not Btay on it long, and shifted over to the baby's back. Tho oil from the sardine-box paid the baby's ncse a visit, and it was evident that sardines did not agree with little Jemaha. The juice from the pie trickled from shelf to shelf, and wheu mamma came home tho pantry floor looked like a slaughter-bouse on killingday. Baby is getting get-ting better slowly, aud the doctor says if Johnny don't take cold be thinks he can take Ibe stitches out of his back in about a week. It took all of the wind out of two paira of bellows to get the baby in good breathing order or-der again, and a splinter out of the knife-box, a? big as a full grown tooth pick, is wandering around ber little body yet. |
