The ninth man will bo chesen on Monday. The Red Stockings, who will arrive tbis evening, have a strong nine. Mr. Taylor, one of them, was lately of the San Francisco Centennials, and has gotten the handling of a ball down to a science. Necessarily the contest will he hard fought. The manager ot the Red Stockings, Dr., Glover, is in town, having arrived on Friday evening, aud yesteiday he witnessed a practice game by the D's. We understand a couple of Cheyenne aldermeu and some other diguitaries uf that city are coming with tho bail players, the party numbering num-bering about thirty. The Deserets have incurred a good deal of expense between J600 and $700 in arrancing for the gameB, and they rely upon the public to "make them whole." Seats to accommodate ac-commodate between 1,500 and 2,000 people have been erected on the grounds, and a small price will be asked for tickets 25 cents fcr Beats on the east and 50 cents for those on the west. A portion of the seats have been covered, which will be reserved for subscribers. Arrangements have been made to preserve order and prevent pre-vent any disturbance on the grounde. Police will be in attendance, and it is expected that everything will pass ofl pleasantly and satisfactorily. Cslebration. Tho 20th and 21st wards will have i grand time on the 20th ward schcolhouse blouk on tho 24th, commencing com-mencing at 2 o'clock p.m. The pro-gr&mrxo pro-gr&mrxo will consist of recitations, speeches, foot racing, and various other kinds of sports, for which good and substantial prizes will be given to thoee who excel. A good bowery has been erected, which will afford plenty of shade. Among the different prizeB for competition we notice one for the best essay subject, "The Twenty-fourth" Twenty-fourth" by auy young lady or gentleman, under eighteen years ef age. Persons competing for prizes must be residents of either the 20lh or 2ist wards. The affair is in the handa of a competent committee, among the numes of which we notice that of Mr. C. R. Savage, who in conjunction with Mr. Geo. M. Ottingor, has ever been alive to the amusement of tho young ones ou like occasions, and many still reinemb2r the pleasant times they liavo spent at entertain-1 ments gotten up by these gentlemen. Mr. Ottingerisconducterof exercises. Final Notice. The Sunday schools will meet in the new tabernacle, for practice, at 10 o'clock this (Sunday) morning. The children need not bring any of tbe music cards with them. The members of the tabernacle and ward choirs will please meet at the same time and place for the last practice.
