Show Thursday, October 25, 1979 Page 5 Car 19 Is Back On Track, Ready To Roll he Car 19 is bark rpl n i me car is s Dark nn track, and Irom all appearances ap-pearances it's on the right track. The interior has been expertly remodeled and the menu is just as enticing. Now owned by former Aspenites Johnny Newman, Ray Luccini and George Schermerhorn, the Main Street restaurant will hold its, winter opening tonight and will be open for dinner seven days a week from 5:30 to 10:30 p.m. under Scher-merhorn's Scher-merhorn's management. Along with prime rib and an appetizing variety of other interesting entrees, the Car 19 will offer a different chef's special each evening. And the chef cooking the specials will be Kevin Galvin. Galvin formerly was chef at the Galena Street East in Aspen, owned partly by Schermerhorn, and Shan non's in Aspen, owned by Newman and Luccini. Most recently, he was offering culinary delights at the Kapalua Bay Club in Maui. Another key figure in the Car 19 is Joey O'Conner. O'Conner will act as maitre d'. But O'Conner will be moving mov-ing downstairs in early December when Shannon's opens. Schermerhorn describes des-cribes Shannon's as "a gourmet restaurant with truly French cuisine in an elegant atmosphere. Diners should allow two hours for a complete meal served by tuxedoed waiters." Already existing next to where Shannon's will be is a tastefully appointed lounge where those waiting for dinner can order wine, beer or setups. There also is a mini bottle store upstairs and down. In what city officials hope will be a trend-setting move, the Car 19 has augmented its Main Street entrance with an entrance facing Swede Alley, providing easy access from the parking area. Car 19 will run its familiar bus during the ski season. The bus loop will include the resort, Prospector Square and Holiday Inn on a twice- an-hour basis Main Street will be allowed on the bus. not just Car 19 patrons. Schermerhorn said. -We want to help the entire Main Street area." "We hope to provide a new, interesting and different dining din-ing experience for our friends in Park City and for the tourists that will soon be arriving." he commented. Judging from its new look and the experience behind the venture, the Car 19 should have little difficulty Willing those hopes. MM The Snowflakers Ball Is Coming!
