(fit Joann Housely The Farmers Home Administration Admin-istration has low interest loans available to fixed income persons with homes in need of repair, City Manager Wayne Matthews said Tuesday. Targeted for senior citizens who will be given first priority when applying, the money will be provided for major structural home repairs. , The loans are being administered ad-ministered by Richard Osmond, who can be con- tacted in Coalville at 336-5671 for further information. Once contacted, Osmond will inspect the home to see if the proposed work complies with FHA guidelines. Matthews said, under some circumstances, circum-stances, the money could be in the form of a grant, which would not have to be repaid. "This is a good avenue to pursue for senior citizens who want to improve their nomes, the city manager remarked. FLU AN;') PNEUMONIA IMMUNIZATIONS Park Citv will be having a flu and pneumonia immunizat n clinic on October 29th at the Senior Citizen's B t iding. This clinic will being at 6 p.m. and is opened to the public. Flu immunizations are free and recommended for persons who have: 1) chronic illnesses 2) persons who are 65 years of age of older 3) have conditions which compromise their immune system. This vaccine has been associated with very few side effects. The pneumonia vaccine is recommended for: 1) persons having chronic physical conditions 2) persons in chronic care facilities 3) persons convalescing from severe disease 4) those who are 50 years of age or older. This immunization should not be repeated for at least three years. There will be a charge for this vaccine. Free blood pressure checks will also be offered at this clinic. High blood pressure is a common "silent" health problem. It has been called a quiet killer because most people with the illness do not feel sick. But high blood pressure causes over 20,000 deaths every year (one in seven adults in the United States have high blood pressure). High blood pressure can be controlled, but it first must be detected. The Summit County Health Department encourages everyone to take advantage of this clinic to receive the flu or pneumonia immunizations and the blood pressure check. For further information please contact the Health Department at 649-9072. In 1977, almost 40 percent of our children in the United States were in danger of catching seven serious disease's: di-sease's: Measles, polio, rubella (German measles), mumps, diptheria, pertussis ; (whooping cough)'and r , tetanus. Health officials are attempting to get more children protected from these diseases. Utah law requires that children entering school for the first time must present acceptable evidence that they have completed or are in the process of completing immunization, or who have acceptable exemptions. Also, the Utah law and the Park City School District's policy requires that the schools have on file for each student, a properly completed com-pleted "Utah Certificate of Immunization." Without this form, it is possible for the student to be asked to leave school until one is completed. com-pleted. These forms may be obtained ob-tained from the Summit County Health Department at Marsac Elementary School, or calling the Health Department at 649-9072, or by writing to P.O.Box 655, Park, City, Utah 84060. Any questions that you have may be directed to the Health Department also. The Health Department is in the process of identifying those students with no re-Ji re-Ji cords "and thosfr;;with inadequate inade-quate immunizations. Letters Let-ters have been sent out and more will follow, along with follow-up calling. The minimum requirements require-ments for immunizations are: DTP or DT (Diptheria, Tetanus, Pertussis) 4 (should be repeated every ten years JPolio, 3; Measles, 1 (1970 and after); Rubella, ' 1; Mumps, 1. Utah immunizations are available from the family physician, pediatricians, and the Health Department. The Summit County Health Department offers free immunizations im-munizations clinics every month.
