Woody Herman and his Thundering Herd appeared at the posh Hotel Utah last week but it was a real surprise when the big band leader and his company showed up at Park High on Wednesday, October 17, for a quick concert and music clinic. Greg Pitt, music director for Park City schools, swung the deal that landed the swing era great at the multipurpose multi-purpose room at Park High. Salt Lake Music Co. helped finance the venture. Carol Rixie told police the pieces were stolen from the lobby of the hotel about September 30. She described them as being cream and pink-colored. A hit and run driver caused $300 wprth of damages dam-ages to a Toyota pick-up truck parked on Deer Valley Road October 16. The car is owned by Steve Morgan of Park City. The Noranda Mining Company reported to police that windows were broken in the weigh station off Iron Horse Drive sometime last week. The windows were valued at $400. Bradley Anderson of Sandy told police his pick-Up truck was stolen while he watched from a second story construction site perch. He said he noticed a man operating a backhoe suddenly sudden-ly got into his truck and drove away. Police reported the man later returned with the truck, apparently believing believ-ing it was a company vehicle and available for employee use. Crash Claims Two On 1-80 A truck and trailer rolled then collided with two other vehicles Sunday morning three miles east of Silver Creek Junction, claiming the lives of two persons and injuring two others, police said. The victims were not immediately im-mediately identified, pending pend-ing notification of next of kin, and the two injured persons were taken to the University of Utah Medical Center. They were reported in good condition. According to Utah Highway Patrolman Nelson Ames, the accident occured when a semi-truck traveling west on 1-80 went out of control, rolled and crashed into another semi and a pickup truck. The dead were in the vehicle that rolled, the trooper said. The injured persons were riding in the pickup truck and the driver of the other semi was not harmed.
