Show Patriot's Flc Creed Idea of Easy Contest The subject of the American Legion's Le-gion's national essay, contest for school children for the year 1926 was chosen with the view of securing a Hag creed for the nation. The subject sub-ject ot' the contest is "A Patriot's Flag Creed." Frank C. Cross, national director of the Americanism commission, in announcing an-nouncing the subject said: "The National Americanism commission com-mission of the Legion desires to secure se-cure a patriot's tlag creed, not more than V2.ri words in length, which will foster greater respect for the Hag of the United States. The tlag creed must display originality; it must be Inspirational." Prizes of ST.'O, SoOO and ?2."0 for first, second and third place winners, respectively, have been offered. These cash prizes shall be used only for scholarships in colleges or universities universi-ties to be designated by the winners. Prizes of a silver medal, a bronze medal and a certificate of merit will he awarded for the winner of first, second sec-ond and third place, respectively, in the state competition. No person may compete who is less than twelve nor more than nineteen years of age. and only one manuscript may be submitted by each. The flag creed must not exceed 125 words. All entries must be in the possession of the national director of Amoricamsm of the Legion by noon. March 10. 1026, and all competitors must pledge that i the essay they submit is their own. I |
