Show TAX RATE IS FIXED BY PROPERTY OWNERS OF OGDEN TO PAY 33 3 10 MILLS county school districts make a protest against consolidation and appeal to commissioners taxpayers of ogden city and weber county will hereby take notice that their taxes tor the next year will be 33 3 10 and 23 3 10 mills respectively the board of county commissioners met this morning and after a conference with county treasurer chambers made the following levy mills state 5 state school 3 general county 5 county poor 1 city 10 city school 7 2 10 county school 1 7 10 bond interest 4 10 total 33 3 10 the total tor county and state taxes is 23 3 10 mill the 10 mills credited to the city being simply assumed as it Is understood that that Is what the council will fix it at as soon as they meet again however the city tax Is subject to change should the council decade to fix the city rate at any figure other than that given it is put in at that figure in order that the clerk may begin work on the rolls at once there is a big kick on foot over the action of the county board in consolidating the school districts at the session of the board this morning joseph M shupe of eden richard dye of Rl verdale herbert rhees of pleasant view H Randa II of randall and william wheeler of perry appeared before the board and all registered a vigorous protest against the consolidation of the districts they urged that it could in no way redound to the benefit of any one district but on the contrary would materially teri ally injure some of them at any rats they wanted a special election called to allow the residents of the various districts to vote upon the matter As the board had already acted their complaints were filed A committee headed by councilman william cragg representing the weber county fair association appeared before the board and asked that the county make an appropriation ot 1000 to assist the association ib the coming county fair the matter was referred to the finance committee commissioners allson stanford and madsen reported progress in the matter of improvements on the roads in their various districts and chairman stanford of the committee on poor submitted his quarterly report after which the board adjourned until 2 p m to canvass the vote of the recent road tax election |
