Show BEAT THE RECORD Fire Department Called Out Seven Times Yesterday < Salt Lake beat all Its previous records rec-ords in the mailer of number of fires yesterday Tho fire department answered an-swered to seven alarms during the day and two runs were to tho scenes of goodsized blazes Besides dei roying the wooden portion of the crematory and Will Loin Bartllngs house and barn on Tenth South the lively flames ca vorled on three separate areas of dry grass one frame stable and a large shcl The first alarm of the day came in at 130 p 1 m and station No I made a quick run to Tenth East and Third South streets the scene of alarm Nothing but a grass fire was In evi dence however Later another grassfire I I grass-fire occasioned a visit to the corner oC Eighth East find Ninth South streets and still another gave the hose wagon of No 1 a chnso lo the vicinity of First South and Thirteenth East A blnzo of more consequence1 broke out during the afternoon In a stable j belonging to John Blakemore on Fourth and A streets The barn which caught fire In somo way unknown was cn lirely destroyed before the lire wagons could reach the scene While most of the apparatus was away fire broke out In a shed behind 1J2 East First South two doors east of fire headquarter A line of hose was laid to the place from the plug In front or station No 1 The shed which is used by A J Hall as a dyeing and cleaning plant war nearly dcstioycd the loss being about 10 The loss to the clothing nnd cleaning equipment I on tho Inside of the shed is placed at i slot covered Insurance How the I fire originated was not discovered |
