Show i SOUSE AND BARN BURNED Firo on Tenth South and Fourth East Streets A frame dwelling and barn on the corner of Tenth South and Fourth Kast streets were burned nearly to tho ground yesterday afternoon The building build-ing was occupied by Alexander McPherson Mc-Pherson but the loss on the structure falls on William BarLllng manager of the New YorkCash store who owns the place The house was valued at 1750 and he barn at 500 The fire originated origi-nated In the barn a twostory struc ture which was completely destroyed The flames quickly leaped to the house which was only twenty feet distant and tho dry wood burned like Under An alarm of 1110 was sent In but when the apparatus station No 1 arrived on the scene the barn was beyond saving A 1 stream of water could not check the lire In the dwelling and the neighbors with the assistance of several of Iji6 firemen set about carrying the furniture furni-ture outside All the more valuable pieces were saved and the total l loss to tho contentsIs placed at 250 Part of the frame walls of the residence are standing but the building is practically destroyed Mr Burlling carried S1250 insurance the house and 200 on the barn and its contents A horse which was stabled In tljc barn managed to escape from the place but a number of vehlcfps valued at SiOO were consumed These also were Insured by the Home jFlro Insurance company which holds the insurance on the house and barn There was no Insurance on the dwel lings contents owned by Alexander Pherson |
