Show Old Folks Enjoy Day's Program Pleasant Grove's annual old folks party, held Friday, proved to be a very successful event with a large crowd attending and the activities of the day being put over in fine style. A short program was given preceding pre-ceding the dinner, which was served at noon. Hyrum C. Robertson gave the opening prayer and songs were directed by Frank Humphries, veteran vet-eran choir leader of this city. Bishop F. D. Atwood gave a welcome speech and short talks were given by Joseph Jo-seph Halliday, oldest resident; Thomas Thom-as Fenton, stake chairman, and Le-Roy Le-Roy Davis, old folks chairman of Lehi stake. James A. Nelson played harmonica numbers, accompanied by Mary Nelson. During the dinner President M. S. Christiansen acted as master of ceremonies and the following program pro-gram was given: Duet from the Third ward, dance, Wilma Green; duet, Lucille Fugal and Bernice Chiristiansen with banjo accompaniment. accom-paniment. Following the dinner another program pro-gram was given in the chapel, consisting con-sisting of a trio by Anna Fugal, Helen Nelson and Virginia Jacobs; reading, Geraldine McFarlane; another an-other selection by the trio, duet, Mrs. Stella Hardman and Viola Beers. Flowers were presented to Jonathan Jona-than L. Harvey and Louisa Halliday, the man and woman having lived the longest time in Pleasant Grove. Carnations were presented to all aged. The honored guests later enjoyed a show at the Alhambra Theatre. All attending report this year's party one of the most successful ever held in the community. |
