Show IMPROVEMENTS AT DIXIEJOLLEGE Special Appropriation from Church Allows for Many Improvements at Institution Construction and renovation involving invol-ving a large expenditure, is under way at the Dixie College, made possible pos-sible by a special appropriation by the church for improvements on the college building proper, the newly-constructed newly-constructed science building and the gymnasium. The interior of the science building build-ing is being calcimined and painted. paint-ed. An office room has been arranged ar-ranged on the second floor for the joint use of the county agent and the marketing association officers. A built-in buffet has been constructed construct-ed in the dining room of the domestic domes-tic science department. Chemistry classes this coming term will be held in the new building instead of the main college building as heretofore. The former chemistry room is being thoroughly renovated for the use of the college business classes. The science room in the main building will be used as a training department, depart-ment, all science equipment having been moved to the new science and mechanics building. The room is being be-ing re-painted and re-equipped. Eighty-two chemistry desks, all new, are being built and installed in the new building. These will be fully equipped. A big improvement is being made in the gymnasium. The room used by Prof. E. J. Bleak for band and orchestra is being remodeled and partitioned par-titioned off into four compartments which will include an orchestra room, a court for boxing, wrestling and hand-ball, and two studios,-1 one for E. J. Bleak in the northwest corner of the building and a studio for Clark Higgins, teacher of string instruments. in-struments. The interior of the gym will be calcimined and the woodwork repainted re-painted and benches built in between be-tween radiators on the lower floor. Pres. Jos. K. Nicholes announces the purchase by the college of a strip of ground at the rear of the science building. A lumber shed will be erected in which will be installed in-stalled a power saw. The shed also will house auto racks for the use of mechanic arts students. |
