The Utah Stale Tax Commission has tolled its three individual income tax bums into one booklet That means the booklet that arrives in your mailbox this month is the only booklet you'll need! "There will be no more trips to the post office or library, searching for additional state income tax booklets at forms, said Tax Commission spokesperson Janice J. Perry. booklet The new 7C-4- 0 contains all the standard tax forms and instructions you'll need. The form will be used by all new Utah income-ta- x filers, whether last year they filed short forms, long tax forms, nonresident or part-yereturns. Perry said. Special helps have been provided. To help you navigate the new form, special instructions have on the been primed in red more form. For those who 3-i- ar - complex filing needs, an additional schedule is provided. A should The Schedule be used by those who have Utah income but who are nonresidents, put-yeresidents, or who have paid income tax to another state. It also contains worksheets to calculate special tax benefits for under-6-5 retirees and Utahns. In redesigning the booklet, the Tax Commission has attempted lo eliminate its number-on- e taxpayer error pulling the wrong "tax due number from the short for tax tables. Instead, you will do a simple mathematical calculation to determine your tax. The three forms were rolled into one for several reasons. The principal reason was the Utah short form was no longer short Over the years, as the Legislature added additional tax credits, checkoffs and other deductions to the form, the form became longer TC-4Q- ar - dk rr nM and more complex. In addition, the complexities of printing, ordering and stocking three different types of forms statewide was costly and cumbersome and created a lot of AA fed rilliI n.vv &'rkt?aH waas r iit-o- M If PI waste. Water at Lapoint Elementary contains high lead levels The Uintah Basin Public Health :(UBPHD) has detected levels of lead in the water 4y at Lapoint Elementary and is ; steps with the Uintah School and State Drinking Wafer Department to isolate and correct the problem. First draw tests of the drinking water at the school showed some levels of lead to be 10 times over levels set as safe by National Drinking water standards. The source of the lead is apparently from lead and copper fittings in the dumbing of the building. After the water runs for about 5 the levels of lead are significantly reduced. Until the lead has been brought under control, bottled water is being used at the school for drinking and cooking. Efforts are underway by the UBPHD to lower the lead levels in the water. Lapoint School had similar high levels of lead in the drinking water seven yean ago. but the State approved the drinking water after levels were reduced. Concerns about the water at the school can be directed to the Uintah Basin Public Health Department, minutes 781-547- 5. :r i , A ...
