Show PROPRIETOR OF A HOTEL SHOT BY LOGGER EDWARD BERTRAND MAY BE FATALLY FAT-ALLY WOUNDED. Dean Says His Victim Provoked ths Quarrel Which Led to the Shooting. Chehalis, Wash., June 30. Edward Bertrand. proprietor of the Olequa hotel, was shot and probably fatally wounded by Alexander Dean, a logger log-ger at Little Falls, a remote town in this county, Monday night. Dean Is under arrest here awaiting tho outcome out-come of Bertrand's injur'. Dean accuses Bertrand of having been Intoxicated and of having provoked pro-voked the quarrel which led to the shooting. Bertrand can remember nothing of the affair. Dean recently came from Kentucky, "where, ho soys, he has a wife and 'two children. |
