Alarming re. ports have been received here concerning con-cerning conditions at the great Pathfinder Path-finder dam, located near the junction of the North Platte and Sweetwater rivers In Wyoming. Further rise in the rivers yesterday increased the pressure against the. granite wall, and inhabitants of the towns of Casper and Alcova are living in constant fear lest the wall give way and a flood be precipitated pre-cipitated upon them. Danger from the threatened flood can best be understood, wnen it is realized that the 215-foot dam backs up tho North Platte river for twenty miles, and the Sweetwater for fifteen miles. The reservoir is our miles In width and covers an irea of about 25.-000 25.-000 acres. Within the past week, fifty men have heen Kent from Denver to asfist in th work of strentthnlng the dam, the request for additional help coming dl- |
