Show Rep. Yardley On Legislature By Rep. James F. Yardley The last full week of this year's legislative session has already come to an end. More legislation has been proposed this year than in other years, with the total number of bills and resolutions filed in both the House and Senate totaling 886. However, the House Majority Leader, Representative Wally Stephens, told the members of the House this week that even though the largest amount of proposed legislation leg-islation had been filed, the smallest number had been passed. The legislature leg-islature will continue to work through as much of the legislation as they can until Wednesday of next week. One bill that passed in the House this week, that may be of particular interest, was Representative Representa-tive Stephen Bodily's H.B. 361, "Lifetime Hunting Licenses." This bill repeals the provision providing for the sale of lifetime hunting and fishing licenses. If this bill passes the Senate too, lifetime hunting and fishing licenses will no longer be obtainable. In the coming days, the pace will pick-up even more as we attempt at-tempt to act on as many bills and resolutions as possible. Those that are not acted on may be run again next year. I have appreciated the letters and correspondence I have received from people expressing their concerns con-cerns and offering input. Even though the session is ncaring the end, I would encourage those who would like to have their voice heard to contact me or their legislator and express their opinions. |
