Show District firing On Equal Opportunity The Beaver County School Board at its regular meeting adopted an "Affirmative Action Ac-tion Plan for Equal Employment Employ-ment Opportunity." Enrollment was listed at 993 for the whole district. Beaver High, 315; Milford High, 179; Minersville, 72; Milford Grade, 171; and Belknap, Bel-knap, 256. Brenda McNaughtan, PE teacher at Beaver High, requested re-quested uniforms for girls teams at BHS. She said cost would be $28.00, but each girl would contribute $3.00 if the Board would put in $25.00. The Board approved purchase pur-chase of 20 uniforms plus $300 for supplies and agreed to do the same at Milford when they are ready. Principal A. R. Marshall explained the BHS athletic program and requested that Mr. Albrecht be paid $200 to run the Junior Varsity program at school . The Board asked him to review his program with his coaches and then make recommendations recommenda-tions to the Superintendent. Bus routes on the Milford Flat were reviewed again. The Superintendent and Mr. Briggs were to review them again and meet with people affected by the change. The Board referred demands de-mands of Val Beeson for property damage and repairs caused by BHS gym to the contractor. The Superintendent reported re-ported that Sherman Carter wanted his wife hired as accompanist ac-companist for his elementary element-ary music program. There-quest There-quest was turned down. The Board authorized purchase pur-chase of a washer, and battery bat-tery charger for the shop and a freezer for the lunch room; Authorized Wells S. Farrer to take 35 students to the Utah State Fair, and use a school bus; Discussed the possibility possibil-ity of extending school hours for first graders; and Agreed to furnish school buses for students participating partici-pating in an activity, but charge 50? for spectators riding the buses. Buses are to be 75 full when used for spectators. |
